Newly appointed captain of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Chris Green, is excited to unleash on the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Cricket West Indies Emerging Players signees, Ashmead Nedd and Kevin Sinclair.

Nedd, who worked along with the Warriors last season, was part of the West Indies Under-19 World Cup side and brought his form into the Regional Super50 where he, along with Sinclair, showed their promise. Sinclair ended the tournament as the most economical bowler and earned a spot on the Guyana Jaguars side.

With the tournament hosted solely in Trinidad and Tobago, the captain is anticipating a lot from the spinners due to the traditional nature of the wickets on the Island. The pair of youngsters will join seasoned campaigners in Imran Tahir and Green himself as the front line spinners.

“I’m really excited about Kevin and Ashmead, they’ve done fantastically well…again two more spinners that are going to have to play a role in this tournament with the rules and regulations, they have to play five out of the 10 games,” the skipper said during a virtual press conference earlier this week.

Green expressed his confidence in both spinners and reckoned that they can even play more matches with their abilities.

“One or both of them are going to be really important and hopefully they can put in performances where they can play more games, certainly I have full confidence in them doing that as well,” he said.

The captain shared his experience with the duo and noted “I’m really excited about what I’ve seen up close and personal in the few training sessions we’ve had, their great guys, they listen well, they work hard and they’re tremendously talented so I am excited to unleash them on this tournament at various stages as well.”

The Australian all-rounder relished in the unity that the Warriors have formed over the last couple of years, pointing out that it is this family-like bond that distinguishes them from the other teams and the newcomers have fit right in.

“On the field and off the field we have a very close bond we’ve been able to establish a family like vibe and credit has to go to our management staff for that, for establishing that really close bond and culture,” Green stated while adding “I think the exciting young players that came through two years ago and continue to transition through can sort of lead this team.”
