UG to hold virtual entrance exam for 2020/2021 academic year

The University of Guyana will be conducting its Entrance Examination (UGEE) virtually due to COVID-19 considerations.

According to a UG press release, its UGEE will be conducted online for the 2020/2021 academic year and is scheduled to be held from September 14, 2020 to September 18, 2020.

This examination targets applicants who do not meet the general UG admission requirements for entry to the University.

The tutorials for the various subject areas will be offered online from August 31, 2020 to September 4, 2020 for applicants to both campuses -Turkeyen & Tain – “irrespective of their geographical location.” 

For applicants to be eligible to sit the examination, they must be: an applicant under the Mature Student Category (26 years and older) who has work experience in the required field of study; an applicant who does not have the relevant CSEC/GCE passes but has a Diploma from either the Burrowes School of Art or Critchlow Labour College; or a Registered Nurse who does not have the relevant CSEC/GCE passes in Mathematics, English Language and a Science subject.

The University asks applicants to note that “A pass at this examination will be valid for entry into the University of Guyana for a period of two (2) years.” 

The examination and tutorials will be conducted via MOODLE – the Learning Management System of the University of Guyana. Therefore, applicants are required to have access to the internet, and an accessibility instrument (desktop computer, laptop, or mobile phone) in order to write the Examination. 

The cost to write the Examination is $15,000, $10,000 for tutorials and $2,000 for the application. All fees for UGEE should be paid into the Guyana Bank for Trade & Industry (GBTI) account no. 001019437017.
