Miner shot at Chi-Chi Backdam

A 34-year-old gold miner is currently in stable condition at the Port Kaituma District Hospital following a shooting incident at Chi-Chi Backdam, North West District.

 Lloyd London, age 34, a gold miner of Heaven Hill, Matthew’s Ridge, North West District is nursing a wound to his left instep after he was allegedly shot by a 46-year-old male, also a gold miner of Water Front, Port Kaituma, North West District.

A statement from the police explained that preliminary investigations have revealed that at about 21:00 hours on Monday the victim and a co-worker were drinking at a shop owned by the suspect. Several hours later at about 03:00 hours yesterday the coworker got into a heated argument with the suspect who ran into his shop, armed himself with a handgun, returned and discharged a round in the direction of the co-worker. The round missed the co-worker and struck the victim on his left instep.

He was rushed to the Port Kaituma District Hospital by a public-spirited citizen where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who admitted him.

The suspect has not yet been arrested.
