The Parika Police Station will be demolished to accommodate a new structure which will be equipped to handle all categories of reports.

In a press release yesterday, Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor said that the demolition will commence on Tuesday.

As a result of the project, he said the Parika Police Station will be temporarily shifted to a police quarters which is situated two buildings east of where the police station is located.

The new Parika Police Station will be equipped to meet the needs of all categories of reports, Andries-Junor noted.

Under the previous administration a number of police stations and outposts were refurbished and constructed across the country. These include stations at Kwakwani, Annai, Aishalton, La Grange, Cane Grove, Suddie, Mabaruma and Port Kaituma.

In 2018, some of the buildings including the Parfait Harmonie, New Amsterdam, Lethem and Matthews Ridge police stations were rehabilitated.

These projects were made possible by the Inter-American Development Bank  through its Citizens’ Security Strengthening Programme.
