Search underway for missing Corentyne girl, 13

A frustrated mother and the police are currently searchng for a 13-year-old girl, who is believed to have run away from her Corentyne home since last Tuesday.

Although the mother does not believe the police in Region Six are taking the matter seriously since she previously filed a report against the son of a member of the force, who allegedly circulated sexual videos of the girl, Commander of Region Six Linden Isles yesterday stated that an investigation is underway. While Isles mentioned that the police have been told that the teenager has run away from her home numerous times in the past, he nevertheless stressed that law enforcers are working on locating her at the earliest.

According to the mother, about three weeks ago she discovered that some sexual videos of her daughter were leaked to social media. She said she immediately questioned her daughter, who told her that she had no idea about the videos. “I tell her he embarrassed her here and she say she feel embarrass,” the mother related.

She said she then went to a Childcare and Protection Agency Office and then subsequently to the police to make a report. “Is a police [woman] son but them say them investigate and the matter gone to the DPP,” she said.

The mother, 36, explained that after her daughter went missing on Tuesday, she immediately returned to the Childcare and Protection Agency office and she was advised to go to the police and file a missing person’s report, which she did.

However, as of yesterday the woman said she had not yet received any update from the police.

While breaking down into tears the woman said that she was frustrated and unsure what to do. “I just want find my daughter and I feel he got to know where she is,” she said of the youth accused of circulating the videos of her daughter.

She said the relatives of the lad have since told the police that they have no idea about the whereabouts of her daughter.

Meanwhile, the woman further noted that she has been texting and calling her daughter’s phone repeatedly since she went missing. “And only one time she answer and say let me na cry, when some aunty draw pay she will come home back but I don’t know which aunty,” the woman said. “My mother and aunty come from Enmore to help me look for her, she not with them. I don’t know where she is and I really need some help to find her,” the woman pleaded.

Isles yesterday confirmed that a separate investigation is ongoing in connection with the leaked videos of the girl.
