Kidnapped Co$$ Cutters co-owner found

(Trinidad Express) Kidnap victim Mary Ali was found on the roadway, approximately six kilometres from her home, at daybreak on Saturday.

Police said the 67-year-old woman was severely dehydrated and was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical treatment.

Ali was found along a road at James Smart Village, Sangre Chiquito.

Police said that Ali was rescued by officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), including by Cpl (Ag) Castillo and PC Jack, and WPC John and PC Diaz of the Sangre Grande CID around 6.20 am.

The rescue followed several joint intelligence-led exercises by officers of the AKU and the Sangre Grande Criminal Investi-gations Department (CID) over the past 48 hours.

The case is being investigated by Sgt Harper.

Police thanked members of the public for their assistance in locating the missing woman.

Ali, of Juteram Street, Sangre Grande, was kidnapped on Wednesday while walking through the car park of Co$$ Cutters Supermarket.

She is co-owner of the business, along with her son Anil Ali.

The supermarket is located at George Street in Sangre Grande.

Police were told that around 7.50 a.m., Ali was walking with two security guards when they were approached by two masked men carrying guns.

The men grabbed Ali and bundled her into a grey Mitsubishi Ceda vehicle parked nearby. The vehicle sped away.

On Thursday, Ali’s relatives took to social media and offered a reward for valid information that could lead to her recovery.

They guaranteed that all information or calls would be treated with confidentiality and asked callers to contact the family at a number provided.
