Mohanram Narine, 50, a labourer of Independence Street, La Grange, WBD, was wounded in an attack on Saturday, the police said.
Enquiries revealed that the suspect who is a known drug addict in the area went to the home of the victim and dealt him several lashes across his body with a cutlass.
The suspect escaped and is currently being sought. The victim was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was admitted.
