Teen with skull fracture stable after Annandale hit and run

A 14-year-old boy, who was struck in a hit and run accident along the Annandale Public Road, East Coast Demerara last Saturday, is said to be in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Police spokesman, Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor, when contacted, told this newspaper that the teen was still hospitalised but stable.

However, he said the driver responsible for the accident was still to be arrested.

A police report had said that the teen was struck down while riding a bicycle along the Annandale Public Road, around 11.45 pm in the vicinity of a tire shop on October 31st, 2020.

Further enquiries revealed that the teen was proceeding east along the northern side of Annandale Public Road alongside a friend, who was also riding a bicycle. It is alleged that a car was proceeding east along the northern side of the road behind the two pedal cyclists and collided with the rear of the pedal cycle ridden by the victim, causing him to fall onto the road’s surface. The boy suffered injuries about his head and body.

He was subsequently picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he was seen and examined by the doctor on duty and admitted. He suffered a fractured skull.
