Cops probing Berbice pensioner’s death as suicide

Police are investigating the death of a 72-year-old Edingburgh Village, East Bank Berbice man, who is suspected of having taken his own life on Thursday.

Alimoon Narainedatt is believed to have shot himself with his licensed shotgun at his home, where his body was found by his wife.

According to the Guyana Police Force, at 1.40 pm on Thursday, the man’s wife heard a loud explosion and found her husband lying in a doorway in a crouching position and in a pool of blood.

Police, who were summoned, later found the man’s licenced semi-automatic single-barrel shotgun under one of his hands.
