Otina Scott was yesterday granted her release on $300,000 bail after she was charged with attempted murder after wounding a drinking partner during an argument.

Scott, 24, of Barama Line, Baramita, North West District, appeared virtually before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, who read the charge to her.

She was not required to plead to the charge and was subsequently granted bail.

Scott is to make her next appearance on December 20th, 2020, when the matter will be called again.

The police were advised to institute an attempted murder charge against Scott, who allegedly stabbed her drinking partner during an argument last Friday night at Baramita Village.

Joanna John, 25, was stabbed several times about her body allegedly by Scott. She was taken to the Baramita Health Centre, where she was treated before later being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. John’s condition is listed as serious.

The police said the two women were drinking at a shop when an argument ensued between them. As a result, Scott reportedly armed herself with a broken bottle and stabbed John several times about her body.

The police were subsequently summoned and the suspect was arrested.
