Forrester Gravesande, the man accused of fatally beating his neighbour in 2017, has been found guilty of the murder.

Gravesande, of Lot 5 Jonestown, Mahaic-a, East Coast Demerara, was yesterday found guilty by a jury at the High Court in Georgetown.

He was charged with murdering Courtney Porter on April 9, 2017.

Gravesande was represented by attorney-at-law Dexter Todd, while the state was represented by prosecutor Teriq Mohammed.

Todd asked trial judge Navindra Singh for a probation report to be prepared for his client before he is sentenced. The judge granted the application. The next hearing will be on January 7th, when Gravesande is also expected to be sentenced.

Porter was badly beaten by Gravesande after a misunderstanding. Porter was transported to the hospital and discharged that same day. More than two weeks after the beating, Porter died. A post-mortem examination revealed that he died as a result of a fractured skull and neck and trauma to the brain.
