NA biker succumbs after collision, other rider critically injured

A motorcyclist succumbed on Sunday evening at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after he collided head-on with another motorcycle which then slammed into the front of a car leaving the rider critically injured. 

Dead is Jamal Joseph, 27, a staffer of the New Amsterdam Mayor and Town Council and of Tucber Park, New Amsterdam.  

The second motorcyclist, Keil Noble, 39, of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam with his pillion rider, Sherlan Caesar, 38, of Savannah Park, have both been admitted at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Stabroek News was told that Noble’s condition is listed as critical while Caesar’s condition is listed as stable. 

According to information gathered, the accident which happened around 6 pm on Sunday along the Republic Road (Backdam), New Amsterdam, involved Joseph, who was on motorcycle, CK 1731; motorcycle, CK 2765 ridden by Noble who had a pillion rider, and motorcar  PKK 8475 driven by a female, 22, of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice. 

A police report yesterday stated that the motor car was proceeding along Republic Road, New Amsterdam, when Joseph, who was behind the car, decided to overtake and collided head-on with Noble’s motorcycle. 

As a result of that collision, Noble lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into the front of the car. 

Both motorcyclist and pillion rider fell onto the road and suffered injuries. They were all picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. 

Later on Sunday evening, Joseph succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital. 

The police are continuing investigations.
