Gun-toting bandits target Providence home in mid-afternoon attack

Armed bandits stormed a Providence home in the middle of yesterday afternoon, tying up three persons who were in the house at the time before robbing them of their valuables.

According to a police report, the incident took place at Plantation Providence, East Bank Demerara. Among the three victims was a seventeen-year-old female, Camyla (only name given), who resides at the address and the maid, Alomi Daniels, along with her daughter who are from Blueberry Hill Squatting Area, Linden.

The property belongs to Sherry Jackson.

About 3pm yesterday, a grey tinted Toyota Fielder wagon drove into the yard. Four bandits, two armed with hand guns and the other two with knives, exited the vehicle and entered the two-storey house through a southern door which was open at the time. They held the occupants at gunpoint while demanding gold and cash.

The bandits then tied their victims’ hands behind their backs before ransacking the house. They took with them a licensed .32 Smith & Wesson pistol and 14 rounds of matching ammunition which was kept in a drawer in the teen’s bedroom. The firearm and ammunition are said to be worth $340,000.

The robbers also carted off a Samsung Smart television valued at $500,000, one Samsung S9 cellphone valued at $140,000, an iPhone 11 valued $230,000, a Play Station 4 video game which cost $100,000, one HP laptop computer valued at $230,000, a quantity of jewellery totaling $500,000 in value  and $50,000 cash.

Daniels was also robbed of her Alcatel phone which was valued at $5,000.

The robbers then escaped in an unknown direction. No shots were fired.

Police are investigating.
