These horrendous crimes deserve the death penalty

Dear Editor,

President Ali, do you support capital punishment? The Trump administration has resumed federal executions after a 17-year hiatus. I am calling on President Ali to do likewise. Let me be clear, I’m not a Trump supporter.

Editor, you would agree with me that in 2020 the nation witnessed monstrous, unprecedented and horrific crimes against women and children.

Just to mention a few, we read of cases in which the victims mostly women and children were burned to death, systematically tortured and sexually and physically abused, the blood of a girl seeping out into her eyes, the tangled scars crisscrossing her soft skin culminating in murder.

People must pay for their crimes. If you take a life, you must lose your life. This is only fair. It is not revenge. It’s justice.

Therefore, Editor, I am asking President Ali to be courageous and resume executions immediately.

Most killers express little remorse for their actions. The fact is that for all that time the killers spent in prison, few come out of prison remorseful, redeemed or rehabilitated.

With so many prisoners on death row, it behooves the president to resume the death penalty urgently.

Editor, I support capital punishment as do 60 percent of Americans according to a 2018 Pew poll, President Ali, do you support capital punishment?

Yours faithfully,

Anthony Pantlitz
