Decomposed body of vagrant found at Kara Kara

The police are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was found yesterday in a decomposed state in an abandoned building at Kara Kara, MacKenzie, Linden.

According to a police report, the deceased said to be of East Indian descent, was described by residents of Kara Kara to be a vagrant who would do odd jobs in the village. They gave his name as Ziek (only name given).

The deceased, it was noted, was seen around the area for the past year and would be employed by residents as a handyman from time to time.

A resident of Accabre Drive, Kara Kara, told police that the deceased visited her home on Christmas Eve to do some handiwork but subsequently left after complaining of feeling unwell.

She shared that between December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021, a stench began emanating from the area but residents assumed it to be an animal that had died. Then yesterday, when the smell became unbearable, they decided to investigate and discovered the body of the deceased lying in an abandoned flat wooden dilapidated building which was situated on the corner of the street. The dead man was clad only in a black t-shirt.

Police combed the area for anything evidential but came up empty-handed.

The body of the deceased is currently at the Wismar Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
