Fogging set for East Coast Demerara today

The Ministry of Health’s  Vector Control Services is starting its fogging exercise in Demerara-Mahaica (Region Four) today, on the East Coast Demerara (ECD), according to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Some 34 communities are expected to benefit.

Two teams will be deployed: one from Mahaica which will be heading down the coast towards the city and the other from Sophia.

The Ministry is advising residents to open their windows to allow the mist entry into homes; to properly secure food items and cover all drinking water; to secure all pets and poultry and to ensure that persons with asthmatic conditions are housed away from the fogging droplets. The exercise will start at 5pm.

The insecticide used in the fogging is environmentally friendly.
