Trinidad father and son charged with New Year’s Day murder

(Trinidad Guardian) A man and his son have been charged with murder.

James Eastmond, 58, and son, James Eastmond Jr, 31, were charged for the murder of 42-year-old taxi driver, Darryl Villafana, following advice received from the Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC on Friday.

The two were arrested on January 1, 2021, by PC Marshall of the Northern Division Task Force, after police officers responded to a report of wounding at Geranium Drive, Coconut Drive, Morvant.

Police said around 4 am, two men, entered Villafana’s home armed with cutlasses.

He was then reportedly heard saying “Jamsie wah is that one” before being reportedly attacked by the two men.

The men then exited the home of the taxi driver and fled the scene using a silver vehicle.

Both men are expected to appear in court today.
