Lindener gets bail on assault and attempted robbery charges

A  man accused of assaulting and attempting to rob a Linden taxi driver was released on $75,000 bail after denying the charge.

Elmont Edwards, 18, of Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden, was on Tuesday arraigned in the courtroom of Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court when he was charged with assault and attempting to commit a robbery.

The charge against him states that during the month of January, 2020, at Third Phase, Amelia’s Ward, Linden, he assaulted Slevin Hercules during an attempt to commit a robbery.

Edwards was represented by attorney-at-law Yondessa Welcome. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $75,000. The matter was adjourned until February 24.
