When Kevin Sinclair turns out for Guyana Jaguars in this year’s Regional Super50, consistency will be his main focus as he looks to better his performances of the previous season.

The 21-year-old all-rounder had a breakout season in 2019, finishing as the most economical bowler of the tournament.

Notably, he was one of the key members of the eventual champions, West Indies Emerging Players.

The off-spinner bagged 13 wickets at an average of 14.69 with an economy rate of 2.87 while scoring 132 runs from  seven innings with a best of 44.

This year, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club talisman has forced his way into the Guyana Jaguars’ First-Class team.

He also landed a spot in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for last year’s  Caribbean Premier League where he was tried as an opener on a few occasions.

The Jaguars began their preparation for the 50-over tournament with three practice matches and Sinclair featured in all three.

Stabroek Sport caught up with the Angoy’s Avenue native who revealed some of his plans for his new team.

“I see consistency being one of the main things. When you want to move on to the highest level, discipline and keeping a good fitness standard are also other aspects of the game that are crucial and I intend to work hard on each,” he declared.

“My ultimate goal is to make the West Indies team. I am working really hard to reach that goal and I want to follow up on my performances when we won the title back in 2019 and hopefully I could assist my team in lifting the championship this year,” he added.

This year, the defending champions, the West Indies Emerging Players, will not be participating in the regional one-day competition.

“Basically I’m just looking to build on the experience I had since moving up to this level and I’m always open to learning more and more as I progress,” said the right-handed batsman who singled out  batting as one of the areas he wants to come good on this season.

“I want to improve on my batting. I have been working really hard on that. Even with the pandemic, I was in the yard batting and working on my fitness and I can only get better moving forward.”

The tournament, which bowls off Sunday, will culminate on February 27.
