Faydeha King, a former Miss Guyana, on Wednesday launched Crowned, an agency designed to train both men and women competing in pageants, pursuing careers in modelling or looking to become brand ambassadors representing Guyana on international stages.

Faydeha, who has years of experience in pageantry, will be sharing the skills that helped her secure top spots in pageants. In this, she will be assisted by professionals who will work to prepare clients to be crowned or to achieve their aspirations and goals.

“Crowned is a body image, model and pageant agency/consultancy,” Faydeha said. “… the facilitators of Crowned … are going to be preparing, protecting and supporting individuals who are interested in the industry of modelling and pageantry. We are also catering for persons who [have no modelling or pageantry interest] … just want to be their best selves… to [stand] out at events they attend and capture the attention of everyone. Interested persons will have access to workshops and training and other activities…” Clients will be trained in public speaking, etiquette, working the runway, to be poised and confident.

The agency will also cater supplying models or cheerleaders for events.

At the moment, there is no physical studio so training and workshops will be hosted at different locations. Crowned is accepting clients between the ages of 18 and 30 years old. Others who have reached the age of consent which is 16 or are 17 years old will require permission from their parents or guardians. Those older than 35, will be required to go through a screening process before being accepted.

Faydeha expressed interest in wanting to provide the same services for children but will be unable to do so until Crowned has a physical location.

Faydeha further explained that the agency will take care to represent and protect models to avoid them being exploited.

With COVID being rampant right now, Crowned is restricted in its provision of services. For now, they will adapt as it relates to dealing with the pandemic to help persons make their dreams a reality. By the end of the year, the agency is hoping to have a full team of Crowned members, its first crowned contestant as well as several models who can participate in recognized shows.

Along with Faydeha, the Crowned team members are Roslyn Forde of Roseblush Artistry (Makeup Facilitator), Kelton Jennings (Talent Agent – Dance), former Miss Guyana Soyini Fraser (Public Speaking Facilitator), Designer Randy Madray (Fashion and Design Facilitator), Pamela Dillon (Etiquette and Pageant Facilitator), and Semoy Defour, a former Miss Trinidad and Tobago who is currently one of the judges at the Miss Cosmopolitan World Pageant Coach and runway trainer (International Pageant Advisor/Facilitator).

Faydeha last competed in 2019 when she represented Guyana at the Miss Earth Pageant in the Philippines, finishing in the top 20. The Miss Earth Competition is considered the third largest in the world with Miss World and Miss Universe taking the top two spots.

She first took up pageantry when she competed in the Miss Skeldon High in 2009 where she was crowned queen. She also participated in the Miss Corriverton Pageant (Queen), Miss Region Six (Queen), Miss Jamzone 2013 (first runner-up), Miss Bartica Regatta 2013 (Queen), Miss Universe Guyana 2015 (second runner-up), Miss Caribbean Culture Guyana (Queen) and Miss Global International Guyana (second runner-up), Miss Black San Guyana 2018 (Queen) and won the Miss Black San International crown in 2018 also.

Prospective clients are required to contact the agency via its website indicating their interest and providing their email. The link for the application will be then forwarded to them. For more information, Crowned is on Facebook and Instagram or email: Crownedagency1@gmail.com
