Guyanese art teacher found dead in St Maarten house

A Guyanese woman who resided in St Maarten was on Monday found dead in her Beacon Hill house.

The woman has been identified as Rhonda Thomas, an art teacher formerly of Guyana.

According to a Police report posted on the Facebook page of the Police Force of Sint Maarten- Korps Politie Sint Maarten, Thomas was found dead at about 12 pm on Monday.

The police said while they are still working to gather a clear picture of what occurred, after conducting a brief investigation at the scene they have concluded that the victim died of foul play.

The police in St Martin urged anyone with information as to what took place to contact the Police Detective Department at +1 721 54 22222, via the anonymous tip line on 9300 (free of charge), via the tip contact form on their website (www.policesxm.sx), or a Private Message via their Facebook page.

They said more details of what took place will be provided as soon as they become available. Meanwhile, a cousin of the deceased in a brief comment to this newspaper stated that the mother of two was a former teacher at the Belladrum Secondary School.

The woman, who was said to be in her 40s, was described as a friendly individual who always wore a smile.
