Man charged with Valentine’s Day robberies

A man yesterday denied two armed robbery charges allegedly committed on Valentine’s Day and was placed on $100,000 bail.

Twenty-five-year-old Darren Bailey was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts where he was read two armed robbery charges.

The first charge states that on February 14, at America Street, George-town, while in the company of another and while being armed with a knife, he robbed Renaldo Thorne of an IPhone 6 valued $41,800 and $1,800 cash.

It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same location, while in the company of another and while being armed with a knife, he robbed, Steve Ramsubhaj of one Apple haversack valued $4,000, a Blu cellular phone valued $19,000, and $1000 cash.

He denied both charges and was placed on $50,000 bail for each one. The matter was adjourned until February 24.
