Moblissa farmer wounded in attack

A Moblissa farmer is currently hospitalized after he was wounded on Friday night by unknown persons while he was under the influence of alcohol.

The victim has been identified as twenty-five-year-old Henry Rodrigues of Moblissa, Linden Highway.

A police report stated that about 8.30am on Saturday, ranks visited Rodrigues at the Linden Hospital Complex where he is currently a patient and enquired about the events that led to him being injured. Police observed a wound to the left side of his chest, and another to the right side of his chest. Rodrigues who was still intoxicated when questioned by the police told them he was consuming alcohol at a shop in Moblissa and then left for home. He has no recollection of what took place after.

Police also spoke to the victim’s friend, Abraham Viveiros. According to Viveros, on Friday night, he was at home, which is situated a short distance across the creek. The man said he was making dinner at the time when he heard Rodrigues calling out to him. He then went to pick up his friend with a boat. It wasn’t until the two had crossed the creek, that Viveros saw blood running down the victim’s head, the injury to his chest and a swollen left hand.

Viveros immediately went in search of the victim’s sister and informed her. Together Viveros, the victim’s sister and the victim’s brother-in-law escorted him to the hospital.

His condition is listed as serious but stable.

Persons were questioned in the area but no useful information was obtained. No arrest was made.
