Trial of Louchee set over 2003 murder outside Blue Iguana

The trial of Mark Louchee who is accused of shooting and killing Collis De Abreu outside of the Blue Iguana nightclub nearly 18 years ago, is set to commence on Monday, March 8th.

A jury was empaneled yesterday morning to hear the case before Justice Navindra Singh at the High Court in Georgetown.

It is alleged that Louchee murdered De Abreu on September 21st, 2003, at Georgetown.

A wanted bulletin had been issued for Louchee following the murder back in 2003.

He was finally charged in 2017.

De Abreu, 36, of Lot 57 Fourth Street, Alberttown, was shot once in the chest and was pronounced dead some 10 minutes after he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) for treatment.

The state’s case will be led by Prosecutor Tiffini Lyken, while the accused is being represented by defence attorney Ravindra Mohabir.
