A prisoner who escaped from the Lusignan prison, on the East Coast of Demerara yesterday morning, was recaptured hours after in the vicinity of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
According to a Guyana Police Force statement, the police swooped on a Zeelugt location where Singh was found and arrested.
Singh, 45, of Lot 81 Zeelugt North, West Coast Demerara, at about 7.10 yesterday morning, escaped from custody after he scaled the southern prison fence and escaped into a clump of bushes.
He was serving a sentence for unlawful wounding and larceny of a water pump.
