Larceny accused has been arrested multiple times this year – court hears

A man who is accused of break and enter and larceny, was on Wednesday remanded to prison after the court heard that similar charges have been brought against him since the start of the year.

Jumo Jordan appeared virtually before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts when he was remanded after being charged with break and enter and larceny of a dwelling house. It is alleged that on March 4, at Silvertown, Linden, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Shakiat Colman and stole a pair of gold earrings, valued $290,000 and a gold chain valued $125,000, all property of Colman. The police prosecutor told the court that the man was arrested three times already for the year and all are for similar offences. He noted that some matters were dismissed, while one was settled, and that Jordan has served time for a break and enter charge. He also told the court that one of the stolen items was recovered.

Jordan was then remanded and is expected to make his next court appearance on April 9.
