Inmates wounded in Lusignan Prison attack

Two prisoners were taken to seek treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after being attacked by fellow inmates at the Lusignan Prison on Monday.

The two injured prisoners were identified as Kentie Bacchus and Linden Lewis.

According to the Guyana Police Force, at about 12.20 am, during a fight in bays 3 and 4 at the prison, Bacchus was attacked by a few identifiable inmates from bay 2, who dealt him several chops about his body.

The report added that the assailants, who reportedly jumped the fence to gain access to their targets, also dealt Lewis one chop to his left hand.

Both inmates were escorted out of the prison in a stable condition and taken to the GPH for treatment.

Bacchus was previously linked to a wounding at the prison. Last Friday, prisoner Ceylon David, also known as `Tall Man’, was wounded.

The attack was allegedly carried out by Bacchus and Lennox Roberts.

It is alleged that Bacchus and Roberts armed themselves with improvised weapons and dealt David several chops to the body, causing him to suffer injuries to his face, a hand and a foot.
