Pomeroon man chops off wife’s fingers, burns house

A housewife from Region two is now hospitalised in a serious condition after she was reportedly chopped several times about her body by her common-law husband.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said that the attack occurred early Thursday morning. According to the statement, the woman, who is a resident of a community located in the Lower Pomeroon area, said that she was attacked by her husband.

She was chopped several times to the head and other parts of the body and several fingers were severed in the process. After he committed the act, her assailant set their house a-blaze.

Contacted by Stabroek News yesterday for an update, Region Two Commander Crystal Robinson said that the woman is still in the hospital and in a serious condition. The suspect is still in custody assisting with the investigations, which are ongoing.
