NY Tri-State U15 beat Everest U15 by 79 runs

New York Tri-State Under-15s won their first match of their tour of Guyana beating Everest Cricket Club Under-15s by 79 runs yesterday on Everest’s home turf, Carifesta Avenue and Camp Road.

Everest won the toss and inserted the visitors who posted 171 for nine from their full 50-over quota. Everest responded with 80 all out in 36.2 overs.

Tri-State were indebted to an unbroken 66 run partnership for the last wicket with Anirudh Bolisetty leading the way. The left-hander, batting at number 10, made 52 not out from 78 balls, laced with six boundaries.

He was joined by last man in, Ansh Rai, who played an invaluable innings worth 13 from 45 balls. He stroked just one boundary along the way.

Tanish Dongre (19) and Anya Garg (17) had starts but didn’t carry on but the North American side were gifted 37 extras to prop up their scoring.

Everest had their share of success with Natyanand Mathura removing Aryan Singh and Ali Virk off of successive deliveries in the 27th over to end with 3-37.

Mathura was supported by Reyaz Laitf and Arun Gainda who each took two wickets for 19 and 25 runs respectively.

In reply, Everest benefited from 35 extras and were fortunate to have three dropped catches but only Romeo Deonarain (13) and John Persaud (11) reached double figures.

Rai returned to take two wickets for just one run while skipper, Nayan Elamurugan and Utkash Srivastava also bagged two wickets for 11 and 20 runs respectively.
