A Mazaruni prisoner, who was serving a sentence for armed robbery, has escaped.
The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, announced the escape of Kevin La Fleur, 25, of Lot 84 Providence Housing Scheme, East Bank Deme-rara, who was serving a sentence of 56 months for the crime committed.
The statement noted that the escapee reportedly ran into the bushes at the back of the prison in his bid for freedom. Prison officers searched the area but could not locate him.
A Joint Services team is presently searching the area.
