Maverick De Abreu, who was accused of assaulting Trinidad Soca artiste Rodney ‘Benjai’ Le Blanc outside the Palm Court nightclub in 2017, was recently freed of the charge.

The matter was dismissed by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, who was presiding in a Georgetown court.

De Abreu, of Lot 66 Broad and Alexander streets, Charlestown was brought before the court on a charge which stated that on April 16, 2017, at Palm Court, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Le Blanc.

A trial was subsequently conducted and Magistrate McGusty ultimately dismissed the charge in February due to insufficient evidence.

De Abreu was represented by attorney Mark Waldron, while Le Blanc was represented by Eusi Anderson Arden Williams and Keith Scotland.
