Black Bush Polder man takes his own life after stabbing woman

Troy Sandy, 35, took his own life yesterday after stabbing a woman he had been in a relationship with.

Sandy died at the Mibicuri Public Hospital, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne  after he ingested poison while the woman, 27,  is currently being treated at a Berbice hospital.

The police today said that around 5 pm yesterday the victim and her two children were en route to her home in a hire car when its path was blocked by motor car PKK 2541.

Sandy came out of the driver’s seat with a cutlass in his hand and began to behave disorderly towards the victim, the police said.

The hire car driver and another man in the area tried to de-escalate the situation when Sandy attempted to chop the victim. He later threw the cutlass aside.

As Sandy and the victim continued to argue, Sandy armed himself with a knife from his car and rushed to the victim, stabbing her in  her neck. He then went to his car and sped away.

The victim was taken by the taxi driver to the Mibicuri Public Hospital where she was treated and transferred to another hospital for further treatment. She is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

Sandy was subsequently found at the Mibicuri Public Hospital where he was admitted a patient for ingestion of poison.  He died at 11.35 pm yesterday. His remains are now at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
