Uncle Sam will not be fooled

Dear Editor,

My young friend Ryan often tries to convince me that all of Guyana’s woes are a result of the so-called “brain drain”. His concept is that the best trained Guyanese have migrated to greener pastures. I in turn try to convince him that the term brain drain refers to the fact that the brains of our politicians have drained through their ears leaving empty hollow skulls. Well! Well! Our President who hails from an avowed communist party is creating an Order of Democracy. No doubt thinking that the U.S would be fooled. When their (the P.P.P.C’s) supporters will be showered with kudos.

The P.P.P.C will never admit that it was Uncle Sam with a mere few sanctions which brought closure. Uncle Sam will not be fooled. Nearly seven years ago, a proud bombastic minister of the said P.P.P.C government sent away their ambassador with a so-called “feral blast” (Dr. Luncheon) telling him to keep his nose out of Guyanese affairs. Six years later the same P.P.P.C government is kissing up to Uncle Sam and begging that he save them from the internal big bad wolf, none other than the A.P.N.U and its supporters. Well Uncle Sam complied, with a few well-placed sanctions, the mighty U.S. brought things under control. The U.S. will always be our saviour regardless of who the enemy is, not because they love us, but, because of our geographic position.

On the other hand the very A.P.N.U who denied the return of the Carter Center observers is now begging the U.S. Ambassador to intervene on their behalf. Hollow heads!

How Sara-Ann Lynch must be laughing!

Sincerely,

E.B.Lobert
