Police still awaiting legal advice in Colin Ming case

Legal advice is still being sought by traffic ranks probing the accident that claimed the life of businessman Colin Ming.

Traffic Chief Ramesh Ashram yesterday told Stabroek News that the file containing the details of the case has been forwarded for legal advice. However, it is unclear when the file will return. The legal advice will provide guidance to ranks and determine whether more investigations should be done or if they can move to institute charges.

Almost a month ago, police said that they were seeking legal advice on the matter.

Ming died after colliding with an ambulance at the intersection of JB Singh Road and Thomas Lands, Georgetown.  The driver of the ambulance was released on station bail.

The police had reported that the accident occurred around 2.15 pm on April 1 and Ming succumbed around 1.45 pm the following day in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
