Two brothers held after robbery at Rose Hall store

Two brothers are currently in police custody after they were caught by police with millions of dollars’ worth of gadgets and cash following a robbery between Thursday and Friday at A&S Store, Rose Hall, Corentyne.

The items stolen were 12 iPhone 12s valued $2.4M, 5 iPhone 12s Pro Max valued $1.6M, 35 Samsung Galaxy cellphones valued $1.5M, one Digi Tronic tablet valued $65,000 and $20,000 cash.

According to a police report, businesswoman Amirah Hamid said that after securing her store on Friday, she left for home.

Upon returning to the store, she noticed the western door open and a glass case containing the cellphones were missing. She immediately raised an alarm after which the matter was reported to the police. The incident is suspected to have occurred between 6:30 pm on Thursday and 8.15 am on Friday.

On Saturday, police cordoned off and searched a home at Williamsburg Village, Corentyne, Berbice belonging to one of the suspects.

The suspect showed police where he hid several cellphones from the robbery.

Twenty-three cellphones were recovered by police. The phones have been lodged as evidence.

Further investigations led to the arrest of the man’s brother.

All of the smart phones were recovered with the assistance of the first suspect and have been identified by Hamid.

Both brothers remain in custody pending investigations.
