One should not let distinguished public servants slink away to pastures new without praise. Dr. Riyad Insanally has been Guyana’s Ambassador to the USA for five years. Before he served Guyana well at the EU sugar round and as the OAS Ambassador to Trinidad and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after winning a Guyana Scholarship and attending Cambridge and Harvard universities. Some record. Riyad has been true to the QC motto above and will be replaced by another QC old boy, Sam Hinds. From that rich seam, another QC old boy (if only at the prep school) Hamley Case – has not been substantially replaced as High Commissioner to the UK since leaving 18 months ago. The diaspora and the UK government still awaits the nominee.
