Short drop operators pleading for return of 100 feet of road

Dear Editor,

We would like to bring to the attention of the President of this country and his ministers that they must not be of the opinion that they own the votes of their supporters.

I say this based on the fact that we the short drop hire cars operators have written many letters in the newspapers and no one seems to care. We have tried to make an appointment with the Vice President through his secretary and upon stating our reason she said our matter is not for him. She then referred us to the Minister of Public Works. We have made three appointment to see the minister but after two months we are still unable to see him.

Our matter is very important and clear. We have an officially gazetted hire car park which the previous government took and placed vendors to ply their trade. They gave us  a stretch of road to operate on. We were operating there for the past 3 years but in November 2021 a senior police officer from the Brickdam Police Station came with the road marking men and reduced that line by half where only six cars can really fit. The remaining cars have to circle several times before entering the park.

In the police doing so it paved the way for vendors to occupy the very stretch of road. We are asking the honourable President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Please give us back 100 feet of the road so that three more cars can fit.

We are looking forward for this re-marking of the car park please.

Yours faithfully,

(Name and address supplied for hire car operators)
