A motorcyclist is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident on Thursday along the University of Guyana (UG) Access Road in the vicinity of GuySuCo Housing Scheme Main Access Road.

The injured man was identified by the police as Joel Hillman, 39, of Third Street, Section “D,” Turkeyen, and the rider of motorcycle CK 5399.

Police enquiries revealed that Akeem Kendall, 26, of East Ruimveldt was driving a car with registration number PLL 4073, and proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of UG Access Road, while Hillman was proceeding north along the western drive lane of the said road.

The report said, as both vehicles approached the GuySuCo Housing Scheme Main Access Road at the time of the accident. The car reportedly turned right into the path of the motorcycle.

As a result of the collision, Hillman fell onto the road and he received injuries to his face and body.

He was picked up by Emergency Medical Technicians in a conscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was later admitted as a patient suffering from a fracture to his forehead and, laceration to the top of his left eye and internal bleeding in the head.

His condition is regarded as stable.

A breathalyser test was conducted on the driver of the car but no trace of alcohol was found in his breath.

He remains in police custody assisting with the investigation.
