Forty-nine-year-old Wazir Potter now awaits sentencing after being found guilty yesterday afternoon of raping a 12-year-old boy.
Following hours of deliberations, the jury returned with its majority verdict of 11 to 1; finding Potter guilty of raping the young boy on August 8th, of 2018.
Defence attorney Everton Singh-Lammy, however, asked that sentencing be deferred to facilitate a probation report.
His request was granted by Justice Brassington Reynolds who presided over the trial at the Sexual Offences Court.
The state’s case was presented by Prosecutors Nafeeza Baig and Sarah Martin.
