US Embassy No. 2 meets with Region Nine leaders

During a recent visit to Lethem and St. Ignatius, Region Nine, US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Mark Cullinane met with the Regional Chairman, Bryan Allicock and others.

A release from the US Embassy on Friday said that Cullinane also met with the Guyana Police Force’s leadership, the Regional Health Officer, the Lethem Town Clerk, the Rupununi Chamber of Commerce, and village leaders.

The Deputy Chief of Mission was also given a tour of St. Ignatius Secondary School and he donated 200 school kits, including backpacks and school supplies, on behalf of the US Embassy.   

“It was a great pleasure to visit Region 9 and understand the priorities and concerns of local officials and business leaders, as well as experience the beauty of the region and the warmth of Rupununi hospitality,” said the Deputy Chief of Mission. 

The release said that the visit underscores the US Embassy’s “commitment to help build capacity in remote areas, strengthen border security, and support youth education across the country”.
