Labourer to face trial over murder of mason

The trial of Michael Emanuel for the 2018 murder of Linden mason, Leonard Peters, is set to commence on Wednesday August 4th, before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Georgetown.

A jury was empaneled yesterday morning to hear the case.

Prosecutor Taneisha Saygon presented against Emanuel, the capital charge which alleges that he murdered Peters also known as ‘Lenny,’ on December 21st at Lot 7 West Watooka, Linden.

The 25-year-old labourer pleaded not guilty when the indictment was read to him. Justice Kissoon then informed that the trial will commence next Wednesday at 9am. The state has indicated that it will be calling just under a dozen witnesses to testify.  Emanuel is being represented by defence attorney Damian Da Silva.
