Too much politics being played with the citizens of Georgetown

Dear Editor,

I reject the comments attributed to Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill at the commissioning of the new Owen and Mc Dougal Streets in Campbellville, Georgetown. I wish to remind the Minister that the Mayor and City Council enjoys a very good working relationship with the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority to ensure all pumps are in working order to supplement the work of sluice/Koker attendants employed by the municipality. I further wish to clarify that the Ministry of Public Works is indebted to the M&CC for over 300 million dollars and, I therefore, encourage the Ministry to settle its outstanding taxes. This will greatly assist the council in the execution of its duties. My concern is that there is too much politics being played with the citizens of Georgetown. I therefore take this opportunity to encourage the Minister to meet with the Council and to work together as partners in the maintenance and development of Georgetown.

Sincerely,

Pandit Ubraj Narine

Mayor

City of Georgetown
