Pedestrian hospitalised after struck by car in Port Kaituma

A pedestrian is now hospitalised with injuries to his head and body, after he was struck down in an accident on Tuesday at Floor Main Access Road, Port Kaituma, North West District.

The injured man was identified as Davie Bashier, 22, of Train Line, Port Kaituma.

The police report stated that Quincy Braithwaite, a 31-year-old driver of Citrus Grove, Port Kaituma, struck down Bashier as he attempted to cross the road.

Braithwaite, who was operating a car, PZZ 3317, was proceeding south along the eastern side of Floor Main Access Road at an allegedly fast rate. However, while in the vicinity of Leung’s Wash Bay he lost control of the vehicle and collided with Bashier who was crossing the road from east to west.

As a result of the collision Bashier was flung into the air before landing onto the road surface.

He was picked up by the driver and taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital where he was admitted. The driver is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
