‘Screech’ charged with murder of workmate

Harrynarine Harrilall, also known as ‘Screech,’ 38, of Johanna South, Black Bush Polder, was yesterday remanded over the murder of a workmate.

Harilall, who appeared via Skype before before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh, is charged with killing Vishnu Dalchan, who was discovered in an unconscious state at the Albion backlands in early April.

After the charge of murder was read to him, he was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison until September, 2.

Dalchan, 53, a labourer of Follow Up, Albion Backlands, was allegedly attacked by the accused.

Another workmate, Rudolph Ramdeen, also known as ‘Rudy’, 52, of New Forest, East Canje, Berbice, had told investigators that he was informed that the accused had injured Dalchan after a misunderstanding.

Ramdeen along with others then went to the area, where Dalchan was discovered in an unconscious state. He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital and was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he eventually succumbed.

Stabroek News was told that the man sustained wounds to his chest and left shoulder.
