Argentina sends humanitarian mission to Haiti

Argentina has deployed a humanitarian mission to earthquake-stricken Haiti.

A statement from the Argentine Embassy in Georgetown said that 24 volunteers comprised an emergency medical team which departed the El Palomar airport on August 21st. The team led by Ambassador Marina Cardelli, President of the White Helmets Commission comprises health and logistics personnel. The statement said that it is expected that the mission will last 15 days with the possibility of an extension to 20 days.  Haiti was hit by a severe earthquake on August 14.

The statement added that due to the ongoing political crisis in Haiti following the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise on July 7th, the Argentine Ambassador to Haiti, Cesar Faes will travel to Corail for the duration of the humanitarian mission.
