Two men die from COVID, 80 new cases

Two more COVID-19 deaths were yesterday reported along with 80 new cases of the virus.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in a release which stated that the country’s total fatalities increased to 613. The latest fatalities were identified as two 47-year-old men, one from Region Four and the other from Region One. They both died while receiving care at a medical institution.

According to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, the 80 new cases that were recorded increased the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 25,403. These came after some 468 tests were done thus increasing the total number to date to 265,731.

The regional distribution of cases showed that new infections were recorded in seven regions with Regions Four, Three and Eight reporting the most with 38, 15 and 13 respectively. There are now 1,846 active cases, 106 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,740 are in home isolation.

Some 31 persons are currently patients at the COVID-19 intensive care unit even as 38 more persons have recovered from the virus.
