Team Ishmael Jordan won the U16 and senior categories of the South Turkeyen and Vryheid’s Lust Sports Committees football competitions.
Held at the Vryheid’s Lust Tarmac, Team Ishmael Jordan battled past Team Shamar Wills 4-3. Ishmael Jordan and Michael Walton scored doubles in the hard-fought victory. For the losers, Wills registered a hat-trick.
Similarly, in the U16 section, Team Ishmael Jordan completed the double as they squeaked past Team David Jones 3-2. Jordan recorded a double in the win, with Walton scoring once. For the losers, Jones bagged a double.
The event featured several teams from various villages along the East Coast of Demerara. The winners received trophies and medals as well as cash prizes. The organiser of the three competitions was Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell.
