Police destroy marijuana farm at Coomacka Mines

A large quantity of marijuana plants were yesterday destroyed by fire during a drug eradication exercise at Coomacka Mines, Linden, Upper Demerara River.

The exercise was conducted by police ranks attached to the Mackenzie Police Station.

The police in a statement informed that along with the marijuana, they discovered one makeshift camp and one wooden house about 100 metres away from the farm.

Additionally, a search of the house turned up one national identification card and a spray can. These were later taken to the police station and lodged.

The marijuana is estimated to be valued at some $900,000. The farm and the marijuana plants were destroyed.

Investigations are ongoing.
