Boy, 15, among two held after gang robs Harbour Bridge commuters

A 15-year-old boy was among two persons arrested this morning after a gang on motorcycles committed daring robberies on commuters as they awaited the retraction of the Demerara Harbour Bridge

According to the Guyana Police Force, the teenager and a 23-year-old man were arrested after its crime patrols in Division 4A were informed that the robberies were being committed.

A total of eight persons, armed with guns, carried out the attack.

A police release said that the command centre at the bridge by way of CCTV captured four motorcycles, all with riders and pillion riders, committing the robberies on the eastern side of the bridge.

The two were arrested with three cellphones, a pink handbag, a make-up kit, and $8,100 in cash, among other items. They were using a black 110 motorcycle without registration number.

The police release said that the 23-year-old male was caught hiding in a dug out with water at North East La Penitence, while the 15-year-old was arrested at James Street, Albouystown.

As the investigation continues, the police asked that victims of the attack visit the Brickdam Police Station to identify their belongings.
