Man charged with death by dangerous driving at Mahdia

Clyde Rodrigues was yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving at Mahdia in Region Eight. The police yesterday named the victim as Ezra Henrico.

They said that Rodrigues was arrested and charged for (1) being an unlicenced driver, (2) driving an uninsured motor vehicle, (3) driving an unlicenced motor vehicle, (4) driving an uncertified motor vehicle and (5) causing death by dangerous driving.

The accused appeared at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Sunil Scarce where he pleaded guilty to the charges of being an unlicenced driver, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving an unlicenced motor vehicle and driving an uncertified motor vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

He was fined a total of $115,000 for the charges that he pleaded guilty to and was released on $200,000 bail on the death by dangerous driving charge. He has to return to court on 2021-10-13 for trial.
